Permaculture Garden Tour
Permaculture Home and Garden Tour – Saturday, 11 February
Come see aspects of permaculture design in practice! Permaculture refers to designing smart systems integrated with nature to provide for human needs.
Visit an off-grid home that integrates micro-power generation, passive solar, and smart building materials to create a comfortable and eco-friendly place to live.
Try your hand at scything, or simply observe in an orchard integrated with comfrey, birdsfoot treefoil, comfrey, and other nutrient-building companion plants.
View productive food gardens managed with the support of chickens, on-site compost, bee habitat and more. See a demonstration of how to make moveable raised garden beds with a peat-free variant of a hypertuffa recipe created by an Ashhurst resident using exclusively local materials.
